“The creative instinct is … an enormous extra vitality, a super-energy, born inexplicably in an individual… — an energy which no single life can consume.” Pearl S. Buck
I just finished this one (Oct ’18) and even named it…. Sunrise over the Marsh. I am super proud of this one… done totally from scratch and my imagination ….
I’ve been having so much fun. I remember now… I get my creative energy from learning. From being challenged. I just needed something new to learn again. Kat Sloma
This night time scene is the result of a challenge… ‘use one brush in one hour’ and create something that looks like something. It’s sure not perfect, but I can see a river and some mountains, so that’s good enough for me!
This coneflower used several creative cloning and brushing techniques in Painter 2019.
October 2018 … three more digital paintings I have managed to stick with long enough to finish. I fairly proud of these… I have never painted anything in my life before, never thought I could! Our teacher, Karen Bonaker, says anyone can paint and she must be right! Digital Art Academy, Your space to paint & share
October 2018 … this is a composite image done in Photoshop with techniques I am learning for my Photoshop Artistry class. It’s loads of fun with my photos, but because I am spending so much time in Digital Art Academy, these classes are being much neglected … just not enough time in the day or days in the year for all the creative projects I want to do!
October 2018 … new projects have been ongoing throughout the summer. I am loving my classes at Digital Art Academy! I wholeheartedly recommend any of their classes … an exceptional online community with amazing teachers and support.
The following are the result of several classes where we studied patterns, pattern pens, creative cloning, and brush making in Painter 2019. Challenging techniques, made easy by superb teaching. These are seamless patterns that can be printed on paper for gift wrap or on fabric or anywhere you can think of!
Walking on my little piece of Native Prairie on a dismal, cloudy day, with camera in hand, feeling uninspired and impatient with a winter that has only just begun and yet, already is too long…. I found comfort in all the signs of life that the Grand Lady, Gaia has left for me… small reminders that Life has never left, only sleeps, and that She finds renewal and regeneration in these short, dark days.
These few photos remind me, by reflecting the dull, lifeless feeling of that day, that Life surrounds us and is never far away….

Create each day anew by clothing yourself with heaven and earth, bathing yourself with wisdom and love, and placing yourself in the heart of Mother Nature. ~Morihei Ueshiba
